1989 Fat Chance Team Comp

The rarest and arguably most desirable Fat Chance is the Team Comp. This 1989 model is painted in Tape Splatter by Hoss Rogers who was the customer painter for Fat City. The paint after all these years is in an incredible condition. The frame is built from tig-welded Tange Prestige top tube and down tube, the seat tube from True Temper, and the seat stays and the chainstays were made from straight gauge Dillsburg aircraft tubing. And G.P. Wilson stainless steel cast dropouts incidentally were typically only used on the Team Comp. The frame’s serial number is 09429TC which when deciphered, is the 942th frame built in 1989.

I have a black Fat Chance Box Crown fork that may replace the unicrown fork one day. Ideally, it would be painted to match the frame.

The drivetrain and brakes are Shimano M732 XT, with Bullseye cranks and hubs laced to Mavic rims and a Fat Chance Titanium handlebar and a Salsa stem provide the cockpit while an Interloc Racing Design seatpost and Selle Italia Turbo saddle round out the rear end.

The Team Comp was only made for a couple of years with the final run ending in 1989 before the Yo Eddy was released in 1990.
